Dodgers: Is the Starting Pitching Actually Good? | Blue Heaven Podcast
After a doom-and-gloom-feeling first regular season episode last week, the vibes have changed following a 6 game winning streak from the Dodgers. With Brook out at Dodger Stadium this week, we tag Doug McKain as the spot starters as we look into an unexpected strength for LA… the starting rotation.

Heading into spring training and the season, the narrative was that the Dodgers starting rotation would be a glaring weakness. However, through the first 9 games of the season, it’s been one of the best in baseball. We discuss how much we should believe this small sample size.
Next, we look ahead to the Braves series and wonder if these restocked franchises could be heading toward a third straight postseason matchup this October. Plus, the return of reliever Phil Bickford opens up a Pandora’s Box for the Dodger front office and active roster over the next few weeks.
Yes, a roster crunch is a-coming.

I saw Dodger farmhand pitcher Bobby Miller last night against the Springfield Cardinals. I’ve heard lots of positives about this guy and was looking forward to seeing him pitch. Plus it was $2.00 hotdogs but I digress. The guy throws hard with nothing below 99 mph. Last night he looked to be overthrowing, much like Sandy Koufax earlier in his career. He threw over 30 pitches and was pulled in the first inning.
I also noticed almost nobody was at the plate to signal what the incoming runner to do….no slide or slide left or right. Coaching needed here.
