Dodgers: Julio Urias Shows Off Special Cleats He’s Wearing for Team Mexico in WBC

Julio Urias is more ready than ever for the WBC tournament and his customized shoes tell fans all they need to know about his pride and excitement.

The pitcher showed off his special cleats on Twitter this week (via MLB.com’s Juan Toribio):

Playing for Team Mexico clearly means a lot for the 26-year-old. The WBC is an opportunity for Urias to showcase his skills to a global audience, and he is sure to help Mexico make a deep run in the tournament.

Urias has been with the Dodgers since 2016 and has already worked his way up to becoming one of the top left-handed pitchers in the game. During his career, Urias has racked up significant accomplishments. In just the last two years, Urias has finished seventh and third in the Cy Young voting. He also led the National League with a 2.16 ERA in 2022 and became the first Mexican-born pitcher ever to win an ERA title.

As Urias competes in the tournament and plays for his country, his participation is a testament to his love for the game.

Team Mexico’s first WBC game is on March 11 at Chase Field in Phoenix. Fans can also look forward to watching Urias go up against some of his teammates on Team USA on March 12.
