Dodgers Lose in Astros Punishment, Alex Cora Fired by Red Sox, Welcome Back Alex Wood! | Blue Heaven Podcast

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred handed out punishments in the offseason-long Astros cheating scandal and it got Dodgers Nation big time upset. Joined by baseball scribe Bill Plunkett (@billplunkettocr on Twitter), Clint and Brook dig into the fallout from this ruling, and what it means for the tarnished legacies of Clayton Kershaw and Dave Roberts, among others.

On today’s show:

  • Astros Judgement Day
  • Cora Out in Boston
  • Alex Wood is Back
  • 2020 Rotation Outlook

Starting with gut reactions to the punishment levied by MLB onto the Houston Astros, Bill shares his thoughts on the situation and what it means for Dodger fans. Will Houston ever be stripped of its title? Will Bill join the fan-drive class action lawsuit? Are players like Kershaw, Kenley Jansen, and even Yu Darvish absolved of their 2017 failures?

Additionally, the potential punishment for Boston’s Alex Cora is pontificated upon as he awaits his fate. Plus overall winners, losers, and reactions from Monday’s judgment day.

In other news that actually effects the Dodgers going forward, Alex Wood returns to LA for some unfinished business and Clint wonders if fans are so desperate for signings after losing key pitchers this offseason that Wood looks good.

  1. If the Dodgers want to win just cheat. Who cares? Trade a 5 mil fine and lose 2 picks plus lose your piss poor manager Roberts for a year then fire him. Wouldn’t it be great, you get all fastballs to swing at. Heck Belle will hit 60 Muncy 50 Turner 40. It will be a lock.

  2. The Asstro’s and Red socked should be stripped of the World Series Championship and trophies/& Rings removed. This has happened in other sports and they should be dealt the same way.

  3. No. For anyone with integrity, the punishment is not enough. The Astros players may have been given immunity for their testimony but that doesn’t mean the title is immune.
Manfred is not there to do the right thing. His job is to save the face of MLB. He s failing badly.

  4. MLB veteran Logan Morrison implicated the Dodgers and Yanks today. This just keeps getting worse. It seems like a widespread problem.
