Dodgers Lose Reliever to AL West Squad
The Seattle Mariners claimed pitcher Eduardo Salazar off waivers from the Dodgers on Thursday. Salazar, 26, threw two innings and struck out three batters without allowing a run in his only appearance in the majors this season, May 15 in San Francisco.
The Dodgers designated Salazar for assignment five days later in a roster crunch. Thursday, Salazar was claimed off waivers by the Mariners and optioned to Triple-A Tacoma.
The Dodgers signed Salazar to a minor league contract in Nov. 2023 and assigned him to Triple-A Oklahoma City to begin the year. Salazar appeared in seven games, all as a starting pitcher, for the Dodgers’ top farm team. He went 1-2 with a 5.61 ERA.
Last year Salazar appeared in eight games with the Cincinnati Reds and allowed 11 runs in 12.1 innings (an 8.03 ERA). The Dodgers also recently lost another right-handed reliever, Nabil Crismatt, to the American League West. Crismatt signed a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers earlier this week.
