Dodgers Make Second Round of Spring Training Roster Cuts, Miller, Busch More Reassigned

The Dodgers made their second round of roster cuts after Monday’s win over the Guardians, trimming the roster by nine, including six players from the 40-man roster and three top prospects.

The biggest names on their way down to minor league camp are Diego Cartaya, Bobby Miller, and Michael Busch who had three hits against Cleveland before being sent down. Cartaya is LA’s top prospect on the MLB pipeline, Miller is number two and Busch is fourth on the list.

Here’s how the list breaks down.

Pitchers:

  • Bobby Miller
  • Matt Andriese

Catchers:

  • Diego Cartaya

Infielders:

  • Michael Busch
  • Jorbit Vivas
  • Eddys Leonard
  • Jahmai Jones

Outfielders:

  • Jonny DeLuca
  • Andy Pages

These cuts leave 50 players left in camp with the Dodgers including 26 pitchers and 24 position players. Importantly, just because players have been optioned or reassigned doesn’t mean they can’t play in games this spring.

  1. The minute Kershaw retires, Cartaya will become the new Dodger back-up catcher. Busch could be an early injury call-up and Miller needs the innings before he makes his MLB debut. Vivas, Leonard, Jones and Pages will get their chance, they just need more time at Triple A. They could also be bait in a trade for Corbin Burnes. Who knows however…. ITS SPRING!
