Dodgers’ Miguel Rojas Responds to Jazz Chisholm’s Disrespectful Comments

Miami Marlins star Jazz Chisholm Jr. recently took some shots at Dodgers infielder Miguel Rojas about their time together in Miami. Chisholm, 26, criticized Rojas, 35, for his leadership in multiple instances, including one in which Rojas failed to wake him up before the start of a game.

It was an unfair shot at Rojas, especially since the two haven’t been teammates in more than a year. The infielder was traded to the Dodgers following the 2022 season. From 2015-22, Rojas became the de facto team captain of the Marlins and was loved by many, which made the comments from Chisholm Jr. even more surprising.

Rojas appeared on The Chris Rose Rotation and fired back at his former teammate.

“It’s not my job to wake you up. If you feel like I’m a bad teammate if I don’t wake you up to go to a meeting, it’s not on me. I have one son and one daughter. Those are my responsibilities.”

On a team, there has to be a sense of accountability from all players. While Rojas could have woken Chisholm Jr. up, it’s not his responsibility to do so. Any adult – let alone a professional athlete — needs to be responsible for himself.

Rojas mentioned that his own family members asked him why these comments were made publicly. Chisholm Jr. also said Rojas wasn’t “a good person,” something that didn’t sit right with the veteran infielder.

“When you cross a line and say that I’m not a good person, and I’m there just because of, I guess he’s thinking I’m telling someone that I’m supposed to be there and please keep me here so I can be a Major League Baseball player for 10 years, that’s what kind of bothers me.”

Not everyone is going to get along in a clubhouse, but there is never a reason to air dirty laundry out in the open. These events happened a while ago, so they seem to be a moot point now.

However each player feels about one another when the two teams meet, we should be in for some drama. The teams play each other May 6-8, when the Marlins come to Dodger Stadium.

  1. Chisholm sounds like a resentment filled loser; needs to grow up and tend to his own life.
