Player of the Day – Alex Guerrero

After an up-and-down spring, Guerrero had been implicitly relegated to start the year in the minors thanks to a lack of support from the coaching staff. To add injury to insult, he strained an oblique, shelving him for the first few weeks of the season. Finally making his minor league debut on Sunday, Alex put on a show. In his second at bat, he hit a ground-rule double to right field. To follow that up, Guerrero smashed a 3 run bomb to left. And for good measure, he added an 8th inning single to fall just shy of the cycle. With Dee Gordon’s hot start, it doesn’t look like Alex will be in LA anytime soon. However, if he keeps hitting, the Dodgers will have a difficult decision to make.
