Player of the Day – Aaron Miller
Aaron Miller’s 2-for-5 day, with a double and home run, certainly isn’t the best stat line of the year. However, the importance of those two hits rival the clutchest of performances. Losing 8-1 in the bottom of the seventh, the Quakes scored three runs to cut the deficit to four. Another pair of runs in the 8th cut the deficit in half.
Lake Elsinore would plate a run in the ninth to increase their lead to three. After a two-run homer from Seager, the Quakes trailed by just one. With two outs in the bottom of the 9th, Miller clubbed a solo shot that tied the game. Unfortunately, that’s all Rancho would muster and they lost in 10 innings. Still, Miller’s late-inning heroics were quite impressive. He’s now hitting .250/.350/.452 in 24 games. Not bad for a guy who’d pitched from 2009-2012.
