Dodgers’ Mookie Betts Responds to Giants’ Logan Webb Saying He Owns Him

Last month, San Francisco Giants pitcher Logan Webb admitted that Dodgers’ Mookie Betts “owns” him on the Chris Rose Rotation podcast.

Responding to this claim on his podcast, “On Base with Mookie Betts,” the Los Angeles Dodgers superstar expressed sympathy rather than boasting about his success against Webb.

“So, for some reason — and I know he has spoken on this — I have no idea why when we face Logan Webb … Logan, I truly have no idea why. But you know, you just have a guy,” Betts told guest Tyler Glasnow. “And I’m not even saying he’s my guy. I’m just saying I have no idea.”

“I have good stats [against Webb], and I apologize.”

Betts’ stats speak for themselves. In 29 head-to-head at-bats, the six-time Silver Slugger has a .987 OPS and .345 batting average. He has hit two doubles and a pair of home runs off the right-hander. Betts has only struck out twice in 30 plate appearances against Webb. Even though Webb beat the Dodgers in their most recent face-off on May 15, Betts went 2-for-4 with one single and one walk.

Betts currently leads the National League in batting average and on-base percentage. He ranks in the top 3 for OPS, slugging percentage, hits, and runs in the National League.

Given their long-term contracts with their respective teams — Betts with the Dodgers until 2032 and Webb with the Giants until 2028 — it seems this matchup will captivate the attention of fans for years to come.

Both Betts and Webb have expressed contentment with the long road of rivalry that lies ahead.

“But I do enjoy when you pitch, bro,’” said Betts on his podcast.

Webb added that he loves to face Betts because he wants to battle the best players. And that he will look back and be grateful for the opportunity to play against a special talent like Betts.
