Dodgers: Mookie Betts Seen on Video Playing Basketball in Memphis

The noise isn’t getting to Dodgers superstar outfielder Mookie Betts this offseason at all. Since the team was shockingly eliminated in four games in the NLDS, finger pointing and the blame game has run rampant on social media. And Mookie is near the top of the list of players who have shouldered the load of criticism from fans and pundits alike.

Still, the 30-year-old was spotted keeping his mind off the baseball field while hooping it up in Memphis.

Fans — some at least — understandably flipped their lids seeing Betts on the court and not in the batting cage. Because we all know that when you lose in the postseason, you should either stay in bed and sulk for months at a time as a player or only work immediately to get better.

Dodger Talk host David Vassegh has been among those who have been the loudest when it comes to Mookie’s off-the-field interests such as basketball or bowling, which he was doing days before the start of the NLDS. With a sly tweet and an emoji, DV showed his distaste with Mookie’s last look.

Is it a good look? Maybe? Maybe not? But really there’s not a single thing wrong with the 6-time All-Star getting in some work and exercise on the basketball court while getting his mind off of the painful playoff loss.

It should be noted that Mook also excelled in basketball as a youth and in high school. He was named the MVP of the District 12-AAA league his senior year with an average of 14.1 points, 9 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals per game. And, in watching the footage above, maybe he can make it up to fans in Los Angeles by going over to Crypto Arena and helping out the 0-4 Lakers.

    1. Definitely, not a good look! Maybe more time in the batting cage would be more appropriate?
