Dodgers Nation’s Top 10 Moments of the Week

What a week for the Los Angeles Dodgers!

After a tough performance the week prior, the Dodgers rebounded with five wins during their seven games against the Atlanta Braves, Miami Marlins, and Colorado Rockies. Up ahead, the Dodgers have a critical series against the San Diego Padres before facing the Rockies again in the final games of the regular season. The division is on the line.

The highlight of the week was of course Shohei Ohtani becoming the first player in MLB history to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a single season.

Here are the top 10 moments from the Dodgers last week:

Honorable Mentions: Stellar Defense From Tommy Edman and Miguel Rojas at Shortstop

Kiké Hernández Collects 2 Home Runs and 5 RBIs in Five Games

10. Mookie Betts’ Fantastic Catch at the Wall

Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts made an incredible catch off the deep hit Rockies’ Charlie Blackmon, who just announced his retirement from MLB. The catch prevented Blackmon from getting on base, and earned the first out of the inning.

9. Andy Pages’ Outfield Assist

Marlins’ Connor Norby made a hit that went past Betts’ glove while Betts was playing in the infield at the time. Dodgers rookie Andy Pages stepped up in the outfield, grabbed the baseball, and delivered a clutch throw to third base to get the Marlins’ runner out.

8. Hunter Feduccia’s First Career RBI

Dodgers rookie Hunter Feduccia hit his first career RBI. Feduccia, who made his MLB debut in July, recorded his first career RBI and fourth-career hit in his fifth MLB game. His RBI tied the Dodgers-Rockies game at three runs each.

7. Shohei Ohtani Collects 50th Stolen Base

During Thursday’s game against the Miami Marlins, Ohtani recorded his 50th stolen base of the season in the first inning. Ohtani stole third base and clapped as he reached the 50th stolen base this season.

6. Teoscar Hernández Hits Go-Ahead Home Run, Second 30-Home Run Season of Career

During the Dodgers’ series against the Rockies with the game tied at 3-3, Teoscar Hernández hit a three-run home run to not only give the Dodgers the lead in the game, but seal the second 30-home run season of his career.

5. Max Muncy’s 5-RBI Game

The Dodgers lost their opening game of the series to the Miami Marlins, but it was certainly no fault of Max Muncy. Muncy notched five RBIs in the Dodgers’ 11-9 loss to the Marlins, keeping them in the game for much of the day.

4. Dodgers Relay to the Plate

During last Monday’s game against the Atlanta Braves, the finale of the series, Braves’ Jorge Solder hit the ball deep into center field with a runner on first base. The Dodgers held just a 1-0 lead, with the Braves in great position to score off the hit. However, Tommy Edman rallied to the ball and helped relay it quickly to home plate to get the Braves’ runner out.

3. Dodgers’ 6-Run 7th Inning

Later in the game against the Braves, the Dodgers went off in the seventh inning with six runs. This included a three-run home run from first baseman Freddie Freeman, his 22nd of the season.

2. Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts Go Back-to-Back Walk-Off Win Against Colorado

During Sunday’s series finale against the Rockies, the Dodgers trailed 5-4 in the bottom of the ninth inning. Thankfully for the Dodgers, they have two of the best hitters in MLB at the top two spots of their lineup. Ohtani and Betts each nailed home runs back-to-back, propelling the Dodgers to a 6-5 win.

1. The Greatest Day in Baseball History

Was there even any question what No. 1 on the list would be? It’s of course Ohtani’s game against the Marlins on Thursday which gave him the first 50/50 season in MLB history. In the Dodgers’ 20-4 win, Ohtani went a perfect 6-6 with three home runs, two stolen bases, 10 RBIs and four runs in arguably the greatest single-game of baseball. He started the day with 48 home runs and 49 stolen bases, and ended it with 51 of each. Ohtani also passed Shawn Green for the Dodgers’ single-season home run record of 49. As Joe Davis said, it was “the greatest day in baseball history.”
