Dodgers News And Rumors: Miguel Olivo Released Following Altercation

The Los Angeles Dodgers Triple-A team has made headlines over the past few days following an altercation in the dugout on Tuesday that resulted in catcher Miguel Olivo biting off the ear of teammate Alex Guerrero. Mike Tyson jokes aside, the organization had a serious matter on their hands as Olivo, who held his own as Ellis’ back up catcher a few weeks ago, was facing disciplinary action.
It came as no surprise when the organization released Olivo on Thursday. The catcher initially refused a Triple-A assignment when signed to a minor-league deal at the start of the season, but he eventually decided to stay with the Isotopes. He saw eight games at the major league level.
This disagreement, which began with a disagreement on the field, resulted in plastic surgery for Guerrero, and the second baseman will be sidelined for some time. With Juan Uribe being sent to the disabled list on Tuesday, many assumed that Guerrero would have been added to the Dodgers roster in his place. Instead, Cuban infielder Erisbel Arruebarrena was called up the team.
