Dodgers News And Rumors: Yasiel Puig On Full Display In Australia
The Los Angeles Dodgers played one of their final exhibition games on Thursday against Team Australia as first pitch of the 2014 season is now just two days away. The Dodgers got off to a slow start but were able to recover for the 4-2 win, which included two Yasiel Puig highlights.
The Dodgers were trailing, 2-0, with two outs and a runner on second in the bottom of the fourth inning when Puig fielded a single and uncorked a perfect throw to home plate to nail the runner for the third out. Whether intentional or not, Puig slowly approached the single before charging it and throwing home all in one motion. The play embodied the young Cuban’s aggressive style of play, which at times was a point of contention last season.
Not satisfied with the put out, Puig then stepped to the plate in the eighth inning with the Dodgers still down two runs. With a runner on first and two away, Puig turned on a 1-0 pitch and sent it sailing over the left field fence, complete with his customary bat flip. The home run was Puig’s first this spring.
