Yasiel Puig is a Cuban-born professional baseball player who plays as an outfielder in Major League Baseball (MLB). He was signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers as an international free agent in 2012, and made his MLB debut with the team in June of that year.

Puig quickly became known for his raw talent, powerful arm, and energetic personality on and off the field. He earned the nickname “The Wild Horse” from Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully. Puig was named the National League Rookie of the Month in June and July 2013, and was a key player in helping the Dodgers reach the National League Championship Series that year.

In subsequent seasons, Puig’s performance was somewhat inconsistent, and he faced criticism for his attitude and on-field antics. However, he remained one of the most exciting players in the league and continued to draw attention both for his abilities and his controversial personality.

In December 2018, Puig was traded to the Cincinnati Reds then was traded to the Cleveland Indians at the trade deadline in 2019. Since the end of that season, the former All-Star has struggled to find opportunities at the major league level. He did not play baseball in 2020. In 2021 he played in the Mexican League and in 2022 he signed to play with the Kiwoom Heroes of the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO). He helped the Heroes reach the KBO championship game.

Overall, Puig has established himself as a talented and charismatic player in the MLB, known for his power at the plate and his ability to excite fans with his play. He established the Wild Horse Foundation in 2016 in an effort to help children and families.

Puig has been involved in several legal battles including lawsuits over allegations of sexual assault and federal charges over his involvement in an illegal sports gambling ring.
