Dodgers News: Brusdar Graterol ‘Expected’ to Start Season on Injured List

Dodgers right-handed pitcher Brusdar Graterol is expected to start the 2024 season on the injured list.

Graterol has made just one appearance this spring, a scoreless inning with one walk.

However, he’s been dealing with hip and shoulder tightness, and was already ruled out for the Korea Series.

While he was hopeful to be ready for the domestic home opener on March 28, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reported Graterol is expected to open the season on the injured list.

That would make Graterol ineligible to return until April 4 at the earliest.

“The Dodgers are expected to put right-handers Brusdar Graterol (hip) and Emmet Sheehan (shoulder) on the injured list before the trip to South Korea. Both will be ineligible to return before April 4.”

Graterol was one of the premier relievers in baseball last year.

In 68 appearances, Graterol had a dominant 1.20 ERA and a 363 ERA+.

He’s going to play a similar role in 2024 as a middle relief, potential high-leverage guy, but unfortunately, it won’t be at the beginning of the season.

Hopefully, the injuries don’t linger for Graterol, and he’s able to return by early April.
