Dodgers News: Clayton Kershaw Reacts to Tying LA Legend on All-Time Franchise List
Tuesday night was a run of the mill for Clayton Kershaw. The Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander didn’t have his greatest stuff on Tuesday, but he was able to go five innings and record the win in LA’s 9-1 rout of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Notching wins has been familiar territory for the 35-year-old since he made his way up to the big leagues in 2008. His win on Tuesday gave him his 209th as a Dodger, a number that pulled him into a tie with the legendary Don Drysdale for second all-time in franchise history, and the current LA great trails only Don Sutton, who tops the list with 233 victories.
Kershaw acknowledged being mentioned in the same sentence with the two legendary Dodgers after the team’s win.
The fact that Kershaw has moved up yet another spot in the Dodgers’ record books just cements his place as one of — and arguably the best — pitcher in the team’s storied history.
He’s had another great season in 2023 and he’s been a big part in his team’s stranglehold on the top of the NL West, boasting a 12-4 record, a 2.48 ERA, a 9.6 strikeouts per nine innings ratio and a 10th career All-Star selection.
The team should still expect quality work out of the future Hall of Fame southpaw, and the Dodgers are set up to have go on another deep run in October behind his left arm.
Kershaw will have an opportunity to move alone into second place on the team’s wins list when he pitches in Miami against the Marlins on September 5.
