Dodgers News: Clayton Kershaw Wins NL Pitcher of the Month Award

Dodgers LHP Clayton Kershaw has won the National League Pitcher of the Month Award for April.

Kershaw had a dominant month, going 5-1 with a 1.89 ERA and 0.76 WHIP. He allowed opposing batters to hit just .175 off of him, and struck out 41 in 38.0 innings pitched.

Despite a lot of competition with tons of great pitchers in the NL, Kershaw couldn’t have been more deserving of the award.

This honor likely doesn’t mean so much to him considering he’s a three-time Cy Young Award winner and World Series champion, but it’s very impressive for him to be honored with the award in the 16th season at the age of 35.

Kershaw has looked as dominant this year as he ever has, and the Dodgers needed every bit of it. He was able to keep the Dodgers afloat when they were struggling, and threw seven shutout innings in his most recent start, which is the only game of the five-game win streak where the team struggled to score runs.

Kershaw looks dominant and healthy, and there’s no telling what his ceiling is this season. If he continues to pitch the way he did in April, he could have more awards and honors in his future.

Kershaw’s first start of May is scheduled for Friday against the Padres in San Diego. That series is sure to be intense, so the Dodgers will be happy to have their ace kick things off.

Congratulations to Kershaw for the award and his continued dominance. Dodger fans are so lucky to get to still watch him pitch at such a high level.
