Dodgers News: Hurricane Hilary Forces LA to Hold Saturday Doubleheader
You truly see something new every day.
On Friday, the MLB announced that the Dodgers (as well as the Angels and the Padres) will have their schedule altered due to Hurricane Hilary.
Rather than playing on Sunday, when Southern California is expecting heavy rain, all three teams will be playing Saturday doubleheaders.
The Dodgers are welcoming the Miami Marlins into town this weekend — a team very familiar with hurricanes in Florida — and will now be playing two games on Saturday to avoid any complications with the hurricane.
The first game of the doubleheader will be at 12:10 p.m. PT, while the second game will take place at 6:00 p.m. PT.
How Will The Tickets Work?
As far as tickets go, if you had tickets to Sunday’s series finale, those will now be honored for the first game of the doubleheader at 12:10 p.m. on Saturday.
If you had tickets to Saturday’s game, those will be honored as normal.
Obviously, this is an unprecedented situation, so the MLB did a good job in getting ahead and coming up with a solid plan.

Weather predictions are far better than they were even just a few years ago, but MLB scheduling 2 games on one day just due to predictions is, while to be expected, poor form. It’s not a doubleheader, that’s 2 games for one admission, it’s just 2 games scheduled on the same day. I understand it’s a business, but do they have to rub our noses in it every single time to remind us? Manfred does have one significant accomplishment however, he’s almost managed to make Bud Selig look smart and wise, something I didn’t think anyone could do.
