Dodgers News: Jacob Amaya Called Up And Sent To IL; Beau Burrows Added Active Roster

In a late transaction involving some IL movement for the Dodgers, shortstop Jacob Amaya was recalled but immediately got sent to the 60-day IL opening up a spot on the 40-man roster. Soon after the spot was open, it was filled with pitcher Beau Burrows

The move secures Burrows to the active roster who would’ve been a free agent. The injury extent for Amaya being sent to IL is still undisclosed.

An interesting turn of events leaves people to wonder what they see in him and how he will be utilized in the coming seasons. Clearly the Dodgers see something in the young pitcher and could be an opening for the bullpen.

Burrows has spent two seasons in the major leagues playing with Detroit and Minnesota before being signed by the Dodgers and sent to OKC. In 2022, Burrows appeared in 31 games with an 8-6 record but struggled with a 7.18 ERA.

For his minor league career, Burrows has a 4.33 ERA but in the majors jumps up to a 10.70 ERA.

Amaya spent 2022 with OKC and Tulsa appearing in 133 games and hit 17 home runs with 71 RBI’s on a .261 batting average. He has spent five seasons in the minor leagues and has yet to see any major league time.
