Dodgers News: Julio Urias Optioned Back to OKC, Austin Barnes Recalled
The Los Angeles Dodgers will begin a 3-game series vs. the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday with Brandon McCarthy on the mound. The Dodgers are coming off a series win over the Washington Nationals on Thursday in a game where Julio Urias make his return to the majors.
Unfortunately for Urias his time with the Dodgers didn’t last long as he was optioned back to OKC. The Dodgers also recalled catcher/infielder Austin Barnes.

The 19-year-old had 4 strong innings, but was pulled after 77 pitches. Urias only gave up one run on five hits, and his performance helped the Dodgers beat Stephen Strasburg giving him his first loss of the season. Strasburg gave up a season-high 6 earned runs thanks to a huge performance by Justin Turner.
After the game catcher A.J. Ellis had high praise for the teenager who will be turning 20-years-old in a few weeks.
“This guy is a major league pitcher,” catcher A.J. Ellis told ESPN’s Doug Padilla. “He belongs here and has proved that he belongs here. Gosh, it’s scary to think he’s 19 years old.”
“What’s going to happen as he goes through the league and figures out ways to sequence his stuff and figures out ways to put guys away with two strikes? It’s going to be really scary what this guy is going to become.”
While in the minors Urias was getting some reps with the bullpen and speculation circulated that the Dodgers could use him as a reliever. It is unclear if or when the Dodgers will recall Urias. The Dodgers will close out this road trip with McCarthy, Kenta Maeda and Scott Kazmir on the mound.
The Boys in Blue then return home to face the Tampa Bay Rays on July 26th. Interestingly enough trade rumors have circled about the Dodgers being the “favorites” to land Rays pitcher Chris Archer.

Fans took to twitter to react to the news of the Dodgers deciding to send down Urias to the minors.
should have kept him in the bullpen , at this point the kid just needs to develop either in OKC or w/ LAD,

They don't need a 5th starter for awhile with 2 off days coming up. Need a bench player with Puig hurt
