Dodgers News: LA Getting Money From Boston in Kiké Hernández Trade, Official Move Announced

The Kiké Hernández trade is officially complete, and the full return on both sides has been announced. The Dodgers are receiving Kiké Hernández and $2.5 million from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for RHPs Nick Robertson and Justin Hagenman.

The $2.5 million to the Dodgers is a majority of the around $3.6 million that Hernández is still owed this season, which is great news for the Dodgers. Alex Speier of the Boston Globe was first to report on the money going back to LA.

The price initially seemed a bit high for Hernández, who’s in the midst of his worst career year for Boston. However, at least LA isn’t taking on his entire contract, and will hopefully get him back to being a serviceable hitter, especially against left-handed pitching.

The Dodgers made the official announcement of the trade, so Hernández is officially back with Los Angeles, and should suit up as soon as their weekend series against the Cincinnati Reds, the team’s final series before the August 1 trade deadline.
