Dodgers News: Michael Grove’s Pants Cause Uproar Online With Accusations of Cheating

Michael Grove got the start for the Dodgers on Monday against the Blue Jays, and was absolutely dominant through four innings.

Through those four innings, he had allowed just two hits while striking out six, and seemed to be on his way to putting together one of his best performances of the season.

However, after the fourth inning, the right side of his pants got pretty dirty, causing the umpire to ask him to change before the fifth. In the fifth inning, Grove allowed four hits and two earned runs, before being pulled from the game.

This led to some questions and accusations, starting from Jomboy Media bringing up the issue on Twitter.

Now at first glance, it does seem a little suspicious. However, that’s where Grove wipes his hands in between pitches, so it would make sense that it would gather dirt over the course of the game.

Also, Grove’s velocity and spin rates weren’t abnormal during the game, and he still got three swings-and-misses in that fifth inning with the fresh pants.

The Blue Jays just finally got to him the third time through the order, which led to him being pulled.

Grove will almost certainly be asked about the meeting with the umpire after the game, and we’ll see what he has to say. But this just seems like an umpire being extra cautious, and Grove getting hit around the third time through the order.
