Dodgers News: Miguel Rojas Agrees to 2 Year Extension With LA
The Los Angeles Dodgers have reportedly agreed to a contract extension with SS Miguel Rojas. Juan Toribio was among those to confirm the initial report about the agreement.
The reports of the agreement came shortly after the conclusion of Dodger FanFest, where the Dodgers announced that they would be retiring Fernando Valenzuela’s No. 34 jersey. Now, after a day where Dodger fans got their first look at Miguel Rojas in his new Dodger uniform (he played with the team in 2014), he signs an extension that will keep him around for the next few seasons.
The extension is a two-year, $11 million deal, with a club option for the 2025 season. So, Rojas will for sure be around this season and next, and the team will have the option during his age-36 season.
The Dodgers acquired Rojas a few weeks ago for shortstop prospect Jacob Amaya. His immediate role on this team is not yet known, but clearly, the Dodgers were very excited to add him this offseason. He’ll likely provide depth in the infield, especially at shortstop, and will now fill that role for the next few seasons.
