Dodgers: Diego Cartaya Talks About the Star Future of Bobby Miller and Miguel Vargas

The Los Angeles Dodgers have one of the best farm systems in the league. Crazy to think about when LA isn’t anywhere near a rebuild mode and is still viable to win a World Series title.

However, it’s still nice to know the Dodgers will be great for a long time barring a trade from someone in the farm system.

One of the reasons LA should be excited about the coming future is because of their number one prospect, Diego Cartaya. Cartaya was the Dodgers 2018 international signee and is projected to be LA’s superstar player for years to come.

Aside from Cartaya, guys are primed to make a name of their own, especially the two guys who were part of last year’s Future’s All-Star game, Bobby Miller and Miguel Vargas.

Cartaya sat down with our very own Doug McKain and said both Vargas and Miller would/can be stars in the big leagues.

Diego Cartaya to DN on if Bobby Miller can be a star in this league
“Oh, for sure. I’m so glad that I don’t have to face him. Well, I face him in the Spring Training, but I’m happy that I don’t have to face him playing on another team. He’s so good. His stuff is very good. He’s a great guy.
Diego Cartaya to DN on if Miguel Vargas will be a star in the league
“Oh yeah, for sure. 100%. I’d bet on it.”

Dodger fans got a glimpse of Vargas at the back end of 2022, and he is set to make waves in 2023 as he will see the field more often. Vargas had a .170 average in a limited role, collecting eight hits, one home run, and slugged .255. LA is expecting big things from the Cuban, and he will do much better with an entire season under his belt.

Miller is LA’s number one pitching prospect and their number two overall prospect. He was the Dodgers first-round pick in 2020 and has a ton of heat with his four-seam fastball. His 2022 campaign in the minors wasn’t impressive, posting a 4.25 ERA with a 7-7 record in 112.1 innings.

We’re excited to see Miller, Vargas, and Cartaya all don the Dodger blue simultaneously and help LA bring home championships in the future.
