Dodgers News: MLB Analysts Praise Dave Roberts, Make Manager of the Year Case

Overcoming multiple challenges through both injury and off-field distractions throughout the season, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts may have managed his best season for the team in 2023.

An impressive job steering his team to another likely 100-win season, LA’s skipper has quite the compelling argument to be named NL Manager of the Year by the end of the season.

“Tell you what, though. When I looked at the Dodgers in the beginning of the year and the way they started. This may be Dave’s best season. This was not supposed to be the team they’ve put together at the end. I remember at the beginning of the year going ‘This is a miracle.’, where they’re at right now.

Dealing with a lackluster bullpen early into the summer on top of a bevy of rotation injuries throughout the season, Roberts’ navigation through each trial and tribulation provided the team with another divisional crown.

Securing the NL West crown earlier this month against the Mariners, the now seventh-year clubhouse leader at Chavez Ravine has simply won no matter who’s been on the roster.

Suffering massive depth losses in the offseason through Trea Turner, Justin Turner, Cody Bellinger, Tyler Anderson and many others, Roberts picked up the pieces all season long with veterans such as Jason Heyward and Miguel Rojas playing prominent roles in 2023.

Though said veterans provided more vocal leadership and an infectious unselfish attitude all year, rookies James Outman and plenty in the pitching ranks including standout Bobby Miller shored up depth for a battered rotation.

Awaiting their next opponent for the NLDS, 2023’s message throughout the organization has been redemption considering their flameout last year.

Unwilling to take second place this season, Roberts surely wants to clear any narratives of a bubble ring from 2020 and etch his name in baseball history as one of the best managers the sport has ever seen.

Whether or not he can cap off 2023 with a ring remains to be seen, but Dodgers fans and players alike know the work he’s put into this year for such a pursuit to even happen.
