Dodgers News: Previously Vandalized Vin Scully Mural Restored in Los Angeles
Balance has been restored in Los Angeles.
Back in June, a disturbing story came out when it was revealed that a Vin Scully mural in Los Angeles was vandalized and defaced.
The mural in the Melrose District had a picture of Scully’s face with his famous phrase, “It’s Time for Dodger Baseball” right next to him. And sadly, someone decided to cover it up.
Fortunately, that mural has officially been restored, as a source close to the building owner told dodgersnation.com that it’s back to normal, and included this picture for Dodgers Nation fans to see.
The mural was restored by the original artist, ZLA, who you can read more about here. He initially created the mural on August 3, 2022, as a tribute to Scully and the entire Dodger fan base as both he and the owner of the building are native Angelenos.
After the mural was defaced, everyone involved with the mural saw the disappointing comments from fans and locals, and were able to restore the mural for everyone to enjoy.
Additionally, the owner of the building wants the person who painted over the mural to know that he or she is welcome to paint their tiki mask on the wall space next to the mural restored by ZLA — just, of course, not on top of it.
“We think this can be a moment of bringing people together in honor of Vin and what he would want,” they told dodgersnation.com. “Especially in uncertain times in Los Angeles it’s important we bring people together.”
So, if you know the person who painted over the Scully mural last year, feel free to get the word out that they are welcome to head back to the Melrose District and have their work be seen alongside the Scully mural — one that will remain on display for all fans to see.
Shoutout ZLA, the building owner and everyone else involved in not only getting the Vin Scully mural restored, but also doing their part in bringing the Los Angeles community together.
