Dodgers News: Mookie Betts Returns to Fenway Park for First Time in Nearly 4 Years; How to Watch

After taking two of three from the Guardians in Cleveland, the Dodgers continue a six-game road trip with three at Fenway Park and a date with the Boston Red Sox.

This game will serve as a nice test for LA, as the Red Sox are right in the thick of things for a wild-card spot in the American League. But it will also highlight a major return of a former beloved player in Beantown.

Dodgers star Mookie Betts will be making his return to Fenway Park for the first time since the team traded him to Los Angeles back in 2020. This will mark a special moment for Betts, as he gets to pay in front of the Red Sox faithful once again.

Fans can watch the game on Apple TV on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. PT. An Apple TV+ subscription will be required to watch. The game will also be broadcast on AM570 LA Sports Radio as well.

Betts spent six seasons with the Red Sox prior to coming to LA. He won the 2018 American League MVP award with them and ironically, helped Boston win a World Series in 2018 over the Dodgers.

His return will likely be highlighted with cheers as the fans in Boston know that he never wanted to leave the city. The Red Sox ownership decided not to pay him what he deserved, and the Dodgers jumped on the opportunity to trade for him.

It will probably be a bittersweet moment for Betts, but one that he will cherish. He is in the midst of his best season as a member of the Dodgers and is in the running for the National League MVP award.

Betts is currently hitting .310 with 34 home runs and 89 runs batted in. He has already passed both his home run and run batted in total from his MVP season.

His consistency has been impressive all season long, and this is certainly a game that he likely has circled on the calendar.

Along with Betts, it will be a return for former Red Sox J.D. Martinez and Kiké Hernandez as well. Hernandez was traded to Los Angeles right before the trade deadline this season.

It will also be a reunion for members of the Red Sox, as Justin Turner and Kenley Jansen will get to face off against their former club as well. Plus the guy LA sent to Boston for Mookie, Alex Verdugo.

Anytime the Dodgers get a chance to play at historic Fenway Park, it’s an awesome moment. This should be a great series and one that fans should make sure to turn in!
