Dodgers News: RHP Daniel Hudson Has One More Hurdle to Clear Before Return

Injured Dodgers pitcher Daniel Hudson is close to making his return to the mound this season after tearing his ACL last summer. Hudson has been rehabbing since to make his season debut and the team provided a positive update on the veteran pitcher Friday.

Prior to his injury last season, Hudson was awesome for the Dodgers. He held an ERA of 2.22 in just 24.1 innings and was one of the more reliable options for the team out of the bullpen. His injury was a massive blow to the team last season and thankfully they could be getting him back soon

The Dodgers bullpen has been a major talking point this year due to the struggles that they have seen. But getting a guy like Hudson back could be the boost that they need and it would create some positive morale for the team as well.

Hudson just has to make one more appearance in Arizona before possibly rejoining the big league club. If all goes well, getting him back this week would be huge as the team heads into a long road trip.

The veteran could help provide some stability to a bullpen that is ranked towards the bottom of the league in ERA. Manager Dave Roberts has searched for different options to find success so getting one of his more relied upon guys back will be huge. If he can come back and even be half of productive as he was prior to his injury, then the Dodgers will have gained a solid option to use in games.

But just because Hudson returns doesn’t mean that all the issues of the Dodgers bullpen will be resolved. He is 36 years old and is coming off a torn ACL so the team must move forward in a cautious way. They can’t expect him to come back and perform as he was last season. There may be growing pains for Hudson upon his return and the Dodgers must still go and look for additional help.

LA has two more games at home against the Houston Astros this weekend before them embark on a road trip where they head to Colorado and Kansas City. Hopefully we see Hudson out there on the mound next weekend and he is able to help the club win games.
