Dodgers News: Rival San Francisco Giants Among Teams Reportedly Looking at Justin Turner

Former Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner remains a free agent at this point in the offseason, but his market seems to be heating up. According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, Turner’s free agency decision could be coming to a close at some point this week.

Morosi mentions the rival San Francisco Giants among the teams looking at infield help, which includes Turner. The Giants are very familiar with the veteran infielder after all the years he spent with Los Angeles.

Turner showed that he could still produce at a high level last season with the Boston Red Sox. He hit .276 with 23 home runs and 96 runs batted in over 146 games played in his lone season in the American league East.

His veteran leadership alone could warrant a team signing him, and he has been known as a great clubhouse guy.

Earlier in the offseason, another NL West rival was showing interest in Turner. The Arizona Diamondbacks were looking at him to fill their designated hitter spot, but they signed former L.A. outfielder Joc Pederson instead.

It would be bad enough for Los Angeles fans to have seen Turner wearing a Diamondbacks jersey, but the Giants would hurt even more. Turner spent so long with the Dodgers that it would feel wrong to see him up in San Francisco.

There was some thought about a potential reunion with the Dodgers, but that ship sailed rather quickly into the offseason. Turner is in line to potentially receive a multi-year contract after his strong season with Boston, but Dodger fans can hope it’s with anyone but the Giants.

  1. Get this California guy and allow him to finish out his career in Giant uniform. He will add thump, add leadership plus defense and offense In a lineup that lacks both allowing the youth to grow in 2024 …
