Dodgers News: Ryan Pepiot Activated Off 60-Day Injured List, Finally Nearing a Return

The Los Angeles Dodgers have officially activated RHP Ryan Pepiot off the 60-day injured list, meaning he’s as close as ever to a return. Pepiot was immediately optioned to Triple-A, and RHP Tyson Miller was designated for assignment to clear a spot on the 40-man roster, per the team’s transaction log.

It’s been a weird year for Pepiot, who battled in spring training for an opportunity to make the Opening Day after Tony Gonsolin got hurt.

Pepiot ended up beating out Michael Grove and Andre Jackson for the job, however, in his final spring training appearance, he left with an oblique injury that ended up sidelining him for months.

Now, after the All-Star break and even after the trade deadline, Pepiot has finally been activated off the IL following his fourth rehab start.

The Dodgers added RHP Lance Lynn at the trade deadline to fortify the rotation, but with three rookies still vying for playing time, there’s room for another in Pepiot to prove that he belongs.

The Dodgers optioned him to Triple-A, meaning there’s no immediate plan to get him on the active roster.

However, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said on Wednesday that after Bobby Miller starts on Friday in San Diego, the Dodgers don’t yet know who will start the remainder of the games in that series.

Since Pepiot had a rehab start on Tuesday, he’ll be on full rest on Sunday if the team wanted him to start that game.

Either way, Pepiot is finally close to making a return to the Dodgers, which is great news for everyone.
