Dodgers News: This Mookie Betts and Barry Bonds Comparison Will Shock You

Despite his previous statements about not caring for statistical greatness, Dodgers superstar Mookie Betts has still stacked up an impressive resume compared to another legend of the game through this point in his career.

In a segment that stacked up Betts’ stats with those of Barry Bonds in an equal amount of games, MLB Network highlighted that Betts’ resume was actually better than baseball’s all-time home run king.

It comes as a shock to many that Betts has more hits, home runs, RBI, runs and is just one point off of Bonds’ totals through such an extended period of their careers.

The long time Red Sox outfielder was traded to LA in 2020 after a cap crunch from ownership meant that his time in Boston was up no matter how talented he was.

Compiling one of the best statistical seasons in WAR, ironically since Bonds, Betts won the 2018 AL MVP award handily and defeated the Dodgers for his first World Series championship that same season.

After another productive year at Fenway, Betts was traded along with David Price to LA for Alex Verdugo and Jeter Downs among other pieces.

The deal has been a complete steal for LA as the Dodgers won it all in Betts’ first season with the team with his fingerprints all over the regular 60-game season and the playoff run for the Boys in Blue.

Dazzling defense, smart base running and timely hitting have been Betts’ game for his entire career, but this year might be the very best we’ve ever seen from him.

Nearing a career high in home runs while moving across the middle infield alongside his normal everyday position in right, Betts’ comparison to Bonds may not be exact, but this year’s edition of Mookie is definitely his best in Dodger blue.

  1. He’s been as good as Bonds up till now because Bonds hadn’t started taking steroids yet. There is no way Betts will continue to win this comparison. This is a good thing. Betts doesn’t cheat…?
