Dodgers News: Tony Gonsolin Activated from IL; Andre Jackson Optioned
Dodgers pitcher Tony Gonsolin, sidelined since August 23 with a right forearm strain, has been activated from the injured list and will make the start tonight against the Rockies. To make room on the active roster, Andre Jackson was optioned to the minor leagues.

Gonsolin was having a career year before the forearm strain, leading the National League with a 2.10 ERA and posting a sparkling 16-1 record. His ERA had gotten all the way up to 2.41 after a rough July, but in his last four starts before the injury, he allowed just two runs in 23.2 innings.
Gonsolin will likely be limited to three or four innings in tonight’s start, with the goal being to have him ready to throw four or maybe even five innings by the time his spot in the rotation comes up for Game 4 of the NLDS. Gonsolin no longer qualifies for the league ERA title, but four scoreless innings tonight would drop his mark down to 2.04.
Jackson pitched the last four innings of Sunday’s loss to the Rockies, and while he was charged with two earned runs, at least one of those was the result of some very tough luck as Joey Gallo lost a routine fly ball in the sun, turning a fly out into a triple. Overall this season, Jackson has pitched 9.2 innings for Los Angeles and allowed just those two earned runs for a 1.86 ERA.
Jackson’s option to the minors is more of a paperwork exercise than anything, because all of L.A.’s minor-league affiliates are done playing for the season. He might even stay with the team in Los Angeles in case he’s needed again.
