Dodgers NLCS: Justin Turner Shares Details of Text Chain with Team, Chugs a Beer
The Dodgers were down 3-1 in the NLCS. The road ahead looked tough, but not insurmountable. Then word spread about a chain in a team group text after a game 4 loss. A thread that kicked off the first of three straight do-or-die ball games.
After LA’s game 7 win over the Braves, Justin Turner joined the SportsNet LA broadcast to chat with Jerry Hairston Jr. about, among other things, that group text.

It seems like the thread gained momentum quickly.
I sent one out and just told the guys, look this is an opportunity to do something special and we can’t look at it in any other way. Let’s show up tomorrow with energy and take it to these guys.’
And boy did they ever. The team rattled off three straight clean games with just the right amount of hitting, pitching, and incredible defense. Everyone contributed to the come-from-behind series win, something JT knew was possible with this team.
We have the best team in baseball, we know we’re the best team in baseball we just gotta go out and play like it and that just kinda opened the flood gates and guys were chiming in and [Brusdar] Graterol was sending paragraphs in English and apologizing for his English which he didn’t have to cause it was perfect. And then the memes and the gifs were coming in and I mean the boys are fired up.
I’m not gonna lie it’s a pretty good text chain and maybe one day we’ll have to share some of those with all the dodger fans. It was pretty cool.
Importantly, Justin punctuated his time with SNLA with a victory beer. There was a good reason to celebrate, after all!
The World Series is set to kick off tonight at 5 PM PT on FOX.
