Font was assigned to the El Paso Chihuahuas, the triple-A affiliate of the Padres.
The 32-year-old spent most of the 2017 season part of the Dodgers organization, mainly their triple-A affiliate, the Oklahoma City Dodgers.
He pitched three games for the Dodgers in 2017, and in it those games, he had a 0-0 record with a 17.18 ERA, 3.00 WHIP, allowed seven hits, seven runs, and two home runs in only 3.2 innings pitched. He was then selected for a contract in September 2017.
However, a couple of weeks into the 2018 season, he was designated for assignment in April 2018. Two days later, he was traded to the Oakland Athletics for left-handed pitcher ,Logan Salow.
Things weren’t any better in 2018, as he pitched in six games, going 0-2 with an 11.32 ERA throughout 10.1 innings while allowing 18 hits and five home runs.
Font’s time in Los Angeles couldn’t have been more forgettable. However, throughout his career, his numbers are slightly better than his time in Dodger blue.
Wilmer is 7-11 with a 5.82 ERA, 150 strikeouts, and 1.48 WHIP in 151.2 innings pitched.
Hopefully, Font can make the major leagues, and the Dodgers will have an opportunity to face him. Good luck, Wilmer.
