Dodgers Pitcher is a Self-Taught Barber — And Cut Tony Gonsolin’s Hair
Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Tony Gonsolin is set to make the first start of his rehab assignment Thursday night. And perhaps, more importantly, Gonsolin will be sporting a new look when he takes the mound for the Oklahoma City Comets.

Gonsolin, who is known for his love of cats and luscious locks, subtly showed Dodgers fans his new haircut on Ring Night last week. It was something that could have easily been missed, but Gonsolin no longer had his signature hairdo.
Instead, the right-hander was sporting a buzz cut. It turns out another member of the Dodgers pitching staff was responsible for the new look: Anthony Banda.
While Banda may be one L.A. brightest stars in the bullpen, he appears to be a part-time barber, too.
“It’s like my ASMR,” Banda said to MLB.com’s Sonja Chen. “That’s the reason why I fell in love with cutting hair. Same reason why people fall in love with drawing or knitting or whatever it may be.”
Banda has a barbershop setup in his home and cuts his son’s hair. However, the reliever doesn’t take any outside customers — so Gonsolin’s haircut was an unexpected opportunity for some team bonding.
Gonsolin was one of three starting pitchers competing for the final spot in the rotation, but a back injury sidelined the right-hander for the start of the season.
Perhaps, Gonsolin’s haircut signals he is ready for the next chapter of his career (compliments of Banda, of course).
