Dodgers Pitcher JP Feyereisen On 2024 Teammates: ‘Excitement is Almost Not The Word For It’
There is excitement in the air around the Dodgers right now. After bringing in Shohei Ohtani, Tyler Glasnow and Yoshinobu Yamamoto this offseason, Los Angeles is buzzing.
It’s not just the fanbase, but the players on the team, too. Multiple players have spoken about the moves that the front office pulled off this winter, and they are very much looking forward to playing alongside these stars.
Dodgers relief pitcher J.P. Feyereisen spoke with our very own Doug McKain about his excitement for the upcoming 2024 season. He has seen all the moves that L.A. has made, and like the fans, he is ready to get going.
”Excitement is almost not the word for it. People ask me that question all the time. It’s almost, like, unreal to have the players that we have, especially the players we signed this off-season with the crew that we had last year already. Most teams can’t say they have one MVP on their team and we have, what, three of them going 1, 2 and 3 for us? It’s going to be exciting.”

Adding Ohtani alone brought a level of excitement to the Dodgers organization, but bringing in both Glasnow and Yamamoto, as well, is the icing on the cake. L.A. is full of star power from top to bottom, and they are looking forward to a great season.
”I love it because I’m going to be able to walk in and out of the clubhouse. As long as I do my job, no one’s going to ask questions about me,” Feyereisen said. ”It’s going to be, what do you think of Shohei, Yamamoto, Freddie and Mookie? I’ll be like, ‘They’re unbelievable. That’s all I think.’“

Feyereisen is just focused on doing his job this year. He is coming off right rotator cuff and labrum surgery that saw him miss the entire 2023 season.
In 2022 with the Tampa Bay Rays, Feyereisen posted an ERA of 0.00 over 22 games. He pitched in 24.1 innings, and the Dodgers believe he can be a true weapon out of the bullpen this season.
”I know all summer last year, rehabbing, watching the team play, you just miss a lot during rehab. You don’t get to have that same camaraderie in the clubhouse, being with the guys. We had a couple guys down in Arizona rehabbing, getting to see some of them. But to get back into games, being between the lines, now we have this star-studded team — I’m excited to play behind them and play with them.”

The Dodgers seem to be in line for a great 2024 season, and they are truly a World Series or bust squad. The pressure is on them this year, but the organization wouldn’t want it any other way.

The new lineup may be the best ever, but they still have to win games on the field. Also, never forget, records are kept so they can be broken. Some young guy somewhere will be better than Ohtani. It is inevitable.
