Dodgers News: Blake Treinen, JP Feyereisen Expected to Be Ready for Spring Training

The Dodgers had one of the better bullpens in all of baseball during the second half of the season last year. It helped the team climb their way back toward the top of the NL West, and gave them a trusted unit at the end of games.

They did this without a few members of their staff who were out due to injury. But it seems that L.A. is expecting to get some reinforcements back by the start of spring training next season.

Cary Osborne of Dodger Insider is reporting that relievers Blake Treinen and J.P. Feyereisen should be ready to go for the team next season. This would give L.A. two solid options in the bullpen.

“Relief pitchers Blake Treinen and J.P. Feyereisen, who the Dodgers acquired in a trade with Tampa Bay last December but missed 2023 after shoulder surgery, were trending up as the season ended. Their offseason looks to be normal with both expected to be ready to go for Spring Training camp in February.”

Per Cary Osborne of Dodger Insider

There was some talk about Treinen coming back at the end of last season, but it never came to fruition. Before he went out, he was one of the more reliable options for the Dodgers in the bullpen, and it will be a welcomed sight to have him back.

In 2021, the veteran right-hander posted an ERA of 1.99 and a WHIP of 0.98 over 72 games pitched. The hope is that he can get back to his dominant self, but L.A. shouldn’t completely bank on it since he has been out for so long.

As for Feyereisen, he last pitched in 2022 with the Rays but was very solid. He didn’t allow an earned run over 22 games with 24.1 innings of work.

Feyereisen could be one of the more sneaky moves from the Dodgers a year ago, and we’ll see if he’s able to make an impact this year.

The Dodgers should once again have a strong bullpen in place for next season, but this is excellent news heading into the offseason. L.A. knows they can never have too many bullpen arms, and they want to make sure that they keep up their performance from the second half of last season.
