Dodgers Prospect Josue De Paula Will Avoid IL With Hamstring Injury

Los Angeles Dodgers outfield prospect Josue de Paula, who left Rancho Cucamonga’s game Wednesday with a hamstring injury, will avoid the injured list, Dodgers Nation has learned.

De Paula is not in the lineup Friday and is not expected to return until sometime next week.

Here’s a video of the injury:

De Paula, 18, is the Dodgers’ No. 2 prospect, per Dodgers Nation’s preseason rankings. MLB Pipeline currently has him as the No. 4 prospect in the organization. On Baseball America, De Paula is a Top 100 prospect in all of Major League Baseball.

The Dodgers signed de Paula in January of 2022, and he immediately dominated in Rookie Ball. In 2023, he earned a call-up to Single-A, where he began the 2024 season.

De Paula has gotten off to a strong start this season with Rancho Cucamonga, slashing .267/.333/.417 with five doubles, two triples and 10 RBIs. However, when he hurt his hamstring while running the bases on Wednesday, there was immediate concern for the top prospect.

Fortunately, it’s not too serious, as De Paula will remain off the injured list and should return to action soon.

De Paula has an expected call-up of 2026 per MLB Pipeline, so he should continue to rise the ranks of the minor leagues over the next few years.
