Dodgers Prospect Kyle Hurt Named Midwest League Pitcher of the Month
There are so many names to be excited about in the Dodgers system. So many that often guys get overlooked despite their high potential. Kyle Hurt could very well end up being one of those guys. Hurt isn’t even in the Top 30, but he’s putting up some wild numbers early on.
Hurt was part of the trade that sent Dylan Floro to Miami and also landed them Alex Vesia. This week, Hurt was named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Month with Great Lakes. He went 19 innings for the Dodgers High-A affiliate and punched out 30 batters in the month of June.
That resulted in a promotion for him as well. The Dodgers just bumped him up to Double-A Tulsa, but he got roughed up in his first outing. Hurt allowed 6 earned runs in his first start. But at age 24, there is plenty of potential there to be excited about.
Other Dodgers News
The Dodgers are hoping that they will have one of their guys on the mound to start the All-Star Game this year. But while many think Tony Goonsolin is deserving of the nod, ESPN’s Jeff Passan isn’t convinced. He spoke this week about why he thought Gonsolin should not get the start.
Chris Taylor is officially headed to the injured list. The Dodgers infielder/outfielder suffered a break in his foot after fouling a ball off of it over the weekend. There is no timeline for his return yet, but it will certainly be after the All-Star break.
