Dodgers Reassign Josiah Gray and Edwin Uceta to Minor League Camp

The Dodgers Spring Training roster changes have begun. It was announced today that Los Angeles reassigned Josiah Gray and Edwin Uceta to the minor league camp effective immediately.

The move means that the Dodgers’ prospects will spend time with the minor league camp, but can still make starts with the big league camp if necessary. Josiah Gray had made two appearances for the big league team this spring and allowed two earned runs in 1.1 innings of work.

Edwin Uceta made two appearances and pitched three scoreless innings. He did not allow any walks in those outings and struck out one. Uceta is ranked as the team’s  number 22 overall prospect while Gray comes in at number five.

The move isn’t necessarily a game-changer for the Dodgers’ roster. While the starting rotation is still in question, these two guys were not being considered to start the season with the team in the first place. It does, however, give other guys a shot at more innings to thin the herd as we approach Opening Day.
