Dodgers Roster News: LA Brings Back Victor Gonzalez, Options Bryan Hudson

The Los Angeles Dodgers made a bullpen move on Tuesday ahed of their series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Victor Gonzalez was recalled, while Bryan Hudson was optioned in a swapping of left-handed relievers. The team made the announcement via Twitter Tuesday afternoon.

Gonzalez is back after an extended absence in Triple-A. Gonzalez last appeared in a game for the Dodgers on July 2, when he allowed three earned runs on four hits in 1.1 innings against the Kansas City Royals. That proved to the final straw for Gonzalez who got off to a hot start this year before cooling down dramatically.

In 25 appearances for LA, Gonzalez has a 5.32 ERA and 1.27 WHIP while striking out 22 in 23.2 innings.

In Triple-A, Gonzalez made 17 appearances, sporting a much more respectable 2.60 ERA in 17.1 innings and holding batters to a .167 average. The Dodgers will be hoping to get that version of Gonzalez, as they continue to shuffle the bullpen around.

As for Hudson, he appeared in just one game for the Dodgers since being called up this time around, allowing one earned run in two innings of work on a solo home run against the Padres.

He’s now pitched 5.2 innings across three appearances for LA this year, and has a rough 7.94 ERA. Don’t expect to see him back up for the remainder of this season.
