Dodgers Roster News: RHP Mitch White Recalled With Jimmie Sherfy Headed to the IL

The Dodgers are moving some pieces around last minute to make it through the series against the Rockies. They’ve leaned heavily on their bullpen over the past week, and the relief team hasn’t always been able to come through.

To help supplement the bullpen over the weekend, the Dodgers added RHP Mitch White to the active roster. White was recalled on Saturday ahead of their game against the Rockies. This is his 5th stint with the big league club as he continues to bounce around between Los Angeles and OKC.

White has appeared in 13 games for the Dodgers in 2021. In 18.1 innings of work, he has tallied a 3.93 ERA and punched out 19 batters. He’s helped eat up some innings for the bullpen during streaks where they were overused though, and that’s where his value has been all year.

The Dodgers also transferred RHP Jimmie Sherfy to the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Sherfy last pitched on Friday night and gave up the 3-run homerun in extra-innings en route to the loss. For the moment, there is no official timeline on a return for him.

But the Dodgers will need all the help they can get in the bullpen as we get closer to the trade deadline. They are expected to be in play for at least 1 arm, but it could very well be more than that.

  1. Bringing back Mitch White falls under the column of “well, duh!”.

Roberts is in over his head…

  2. Seriously Brook? The only thing worse than a good defensive centre fielders hitting 150 is a good defensive first baseman hitting 150.
