Dodgers Rumors: NL Rival Reportedly Joins Pursuit of Lucas Giolito
The MLB trade deadline is just around the corner, and it’s a known fact that the Los Angeles Dodgers want to shore up their starting pitching ahead of that August 1 date.
One starter the Dodgers have been connected to in the leadup to the deadline is Chicago White Sox hurler Lucas Giolito. The southern California native has had a solid season for the otherwise struggling Southsiders, putting up a 3.96 ERA this campaign in a mark that would make him a strong second arm in the rotation.
For a Dodgers team that needs to bolster their rotation depth amidst injuries and poor performance, a potential addition of Giolito seems like a perfect match. LA would fill their hole on the roster while Giolito would be joining a contender close to home.
But there figures to be plenty of suitors for the former All-Star, and one of them is a team that Dodger fans should be quite familiar with.
The Dodgers aren’t the only NL West team pursuing White Sox starter Lucas Giolito.

Sources say the DBacks have inquired about Giolito, as well. @MLBNetwork @MLB
Yes, it looks like the Arizona Diamondbacks are in on the right-hander as well, according to MLB.com Jon Morosi.
Arizona’s in the unfamiliar position of being buyers at the trade deadline, as they’re trying to make their first trip to the postseason since 2017.
They were atop the NL West for a good portion of the season before recently being jumped by the Dodgers as they’ve lost nine of their last 13 games.
The addition of Giolito would give the Diamondbacks quite the duo at the top of their rotation along with All-Star Zac Gallen, and with Arizona only two games behind LA in the division as of Friday afternoon, would definitely be well served by adding him.
While LA has more than enough depth in the organization to present a quality offer to Chicago, it may not be easy to put Giolito in Dodger blue.
And if the Diamondbacks have anything to say about it, they’ll try to do all they can to bring him to the desert.
