The San Diego Padres and Dodgers have battled it out for decades out in the West, and in last year’s NLDS the two teams certainly went at it.
ESPN is giving fans more of the rivalry action once again this year, after they announced this week that the Dodgers vs. Padres game will be the Sunday Night Baseball telecast on May 7.
In the press release, ESPN shared that it will be the final game of the first series between the teams this season. Following that game in San Diego, the teams will play each other at the end of that same week for a three game series at Dodger Stadium.
Beyond that matchup, Los Angeles will also make another Sunday Night Baseball appearance June 4 against another rivalry team in the East, the New York Yankees. The Dodgers will play this game at home, as their first time hosting the Yankees at Dodger Stadium since August of 2019.
These competitions have created all the hype and anticipation, especially with the classic Yankees rivalry tracing back to the early 1940s.
Although other Sunday Night Baseball games can get added to the Dodgers’ schedule throughout the season, fans surely won’t be disappointed in watching the Padres and Yankees go up against Los Angeles.
