Dodgers Seeking a Boatload of Money For Field Naming Deal

Like it or not, the Dodgers are bringing some big changes to things within the next year. The team announced that they had hired a team to seek out premier sponsorships opportunities this year. Their main goal is apparently to look for a sponsor to get the field naming rights deal as well as someone to take on the uniform patch sponsorship.

So things are going to look much different, potentially as soon as 2023. Dodgers fans were upset with the announcement, which is completely understandable. Changing something as iconic as the Dodger uniform as well as stadium name never goes over well.

But the money that is supposed to come with the deals could be very significant. According to the OC Register’s J.P. Hoornstra, the Dodgers are seeking upwards of $20 million annually for the field naming deal. That’s a huge chunk of change just to tack on the company name to the Dodger Stadium title.

Again, this sponsorship will not take place of the stadium name. It will likely look something like “Dodger Stadium brought to you by [insert company]” or “[company] field at Dodger Stadium”. Look for it to go something like that. But the Dodgers are not changing the stadium name.

So while it might not be popular among fans, the Dodgers are getting a lot of money to help pay for some things. And we hope that it goes back to the fans, possibly via player signings.
