Dodgers: Minor League Pitcher Perfectly Mirrors Clayton Kershaw

It’s not often that you see a pitcher coming up through the minor leagues perfectly emulate a big-league star. Sure, sometimes players take parts of a player’s game and incorporate them into their own. You can think about Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan in the NBA for reference. But one minor leaguer looked to a Dodgers pitcher for his game.

Cleveland Guardians prospect Will Dion has almost the exact wind-up as Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw. That slow pause from the southpaw hurler could be recognized from any distance, and fans picked up on it this week.

But according to an LA Times interview, Dion didn’t even realize what he had done. He picked up that delay from a high school coach that was trying to slow down his delivery. But while th goal was not to mirror the Dodgers pitcher, he has become one of his favorite players.

Just a fun little thing for your Wednesday afternoon. Kershaw pitched against the Braves on Monday night, allowing 4 runs across his 5 innings of work. But the Dodgers pulled out the win and gave him his second win of the season in two starts.
