Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani Dealing With Hamstring Injury

Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani has recently been playing with a hamstring contusion. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters after the team’s fourth consecutive loss on Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds.

Ohtani suffered the injury in the team’s last homestand. The 29-year-old was hit in the leg by a pickoff and has been instructed not to exert full effort on the bases for the time being. The good news is that it’s not too serious for him to miss games, but it’s clear that this injury is limiting his play. This hamstring injury will affect his stolen base output in the short term.

The lefty slugger went 1-for-4 on Saturday with three strikeouts and zero stolen bases. In the last seven games, Ohtani has only stolen two bases and has a .214 batting average.

He had an 0-for-10 stretch before his triple on Saturday night, a triple in which he was jogging around the bases.
