Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani Gets Enormous Praise From Opposing Pitchers: ‘Best Player of All Time’
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Minnesota Twins might be rivals on the field this week as they face off for a three-game series, but there’s nothing but respect from the Twins toward Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani.
Twins pitchers Brock Stewart and Pablo López both spoke highly of Ohtani ahead of the series. Stewart, who played for the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2016-19, even went as far as to call Ohtani the ‘best player of all time.’
“Shohei Ohtani is the best player in the world and the best player of all time,” Steward said, via Bally Sports North. “What he’s doing is crazy. He can hit, he can pitch, he can run, he can do it all. It’s very, very special.”
While López did not call Ohtani the best of all time, he was still full of admiration for all Ohtani does as a player.
“I cannot imagine how long his days must be, how long it took him to find the right routine, and just thinking about that makes me admire him,” López said. “And then when he performs the way he does, it’s a blessing that I’m playing at the same time that he is, because I can understand and be grateful that I’m witnessing something like that.”
It’s no surprise to see this praise head Ohtani’s way. The three-time MLB All-Star and two-time AL MVP is regarded by many as one of the best players in the game, if not the best, and is truly special as a top hitter and pitcher.
The Twins got a taste of what Ohtani does in their first game against each other Monday. Ohtani notched three hits, two hits, one RBI and one home run in the Dodgers’ 4-2 win over the Twins.
