Dodgers: The Story Behind Kiké Hernandez’s Famous Baby Announcement

If you haven’t seen the now-famous Instagram reveal for Kiké Hernandez and his wife announcing their pregnancy, you’re really missing out. The Dodgers utilityman is known for his antics on the field, but he took this one to new heights. 

Kiké was seen with his wife Mariana kissing his fake belly that he bought off of Amazon. That apparently really hit the funny bone of Dodgers fans who shared the post all across social media in the days following the announcement. So how did the couple come up with this in the first place?

Hernandez talked about it recently in an interview, and it’s everything that you would imagine with him involved. 

We were looking for original ways to announce her pregnancy. And we didn’t want to do a gender reveal because it felt like every idea out there has been overused already. And I was like ‘We need to find something to do, we need something to do especially now in quarantine we have time’. And it was my wife’s sister that found these pictures of the girl that plays Super Girl in the TV show, she did some photos like that where her husband had some paper inside his stomach and pretended to be pregnant… 

It can never be anything normal as long as Kiké is involved. The utilityman is now officially a free agent, though there are plenty of Dodgers fans hoping he will make a return to Los Angeles. In his 6 seasons with the team, Hernandez tallied 68 homeruns and appeared in 58 postseason games.
