Dodgers To Call Up Top Outfield Prospect: Reports
The Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to call up their number three prospect, outfielder Andy Pages, ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Washington Nationals.
Francys Romero was the first to report the news Tuesday morning.
Many Dodger fans were waiting for this move. After a disappointing start to the season from the bottom of the lineup, the front office made the call. Following a strong spring training, many Dodger fans were hoping to see Pages in the Opening Day. He slashed .471/.571/1.000 with two home runs and nine RBIs in limited Cactus League at-bats.
Pages’ hot start carried into the regular season. After being assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma City, Pages slashed .371/.452/.649 with five home runs and 15 RBIs.
Not only has the bottom of the Dodgers’ lineup been struggling, Jayson Heyward’s back injury has yet to improve to the point where he can be activated from the 10-day injured list right away. Pages will become a regular, at least for the time being, in right field. However, Pages is also more than capable of handling center field if need be. The right-handed slugger would also be an option against left-handed pitchers when James Outman is out of the lineup.
The 23-year-old signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers prior to the 2018 season. Since then, he’s been trying to make his way to the big leagues. Today, his dream comes true.
